OnePlus Nord N30 SE is coming: a rebranded Nord N30, itself a rebranded Nord CE 3 Lite

While everyone is anxiously waiting for the upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 12, OnePlus is also working on another new device, this one much cheaper. Well, "new" if you have a very flexible definition of the word. We're talking about the OnePlus Nord N30 SE, which just got certified by TDRA in the UAE. So far so good, and this certification actually reveals the name. But it also gives us the model number: CPH2605. And that's the model number of both the Nord N30 launched in North America, as well as the Nord CE 3 Lite. Those two phones are identical devices sold under different names...

YouTube's blocking of ad blockers isn't a "small experiment" anymore

Back in June, YouTube announced that it was running a "small experiment" globally where it urged a tiny subset of people using ad blockers to disable them if they want to view content on the platform. This is no longer a "small experiment". YouTube now says it's launching a global effort to crack down on ad blockers and encourage users to either allow ads or pay for YouTube Premium (where there are no ads). This comes straight from YouTube communications manager Christopher Lawton. When you run into YouTube's ad blocker block, you'll see a message like the one in the screenshot...

Apple Unveils 24-Inch iMac With M3 Chip, Up to 10-Core GPU in India: Price, Specifications

Apple has finally upgraded the 24-inch iMac with the newly announced M3 chip, following the M1-powered iMac that was launched in 2021. The 24-inch iMac with M3 chip was unveiled during Apple's Scary Fast event on Tuesday. It features the same design as the 2021 iMac model with an M1 chip, that was launched three years ago. The upgraded iMac M3 model comes with an 8-core CPU and up to a 10-core GPU. It is claimed to offer up to two times better performance than the M1-based iMac while also being more efficient.

24-inch iMac M3 price in India, availability

The new 24-inch iMac with an M3 chip starts at Rs. 1,34,900. This model comes with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of memory, a 256GB SSD storage, and two Thunderbolt ports. Apple includes the Magic Keyboard and Magic Mouse with the 24-inch iMac. It is available in green, pink, blue, and silver colour options.

On the other hand, the 24-inch iMac with M3 variant with the 10-core GPU starts at Rs. 1,54,900 or Rs. 1,44,900 for education. It comes with the same configuration — an 8-core CPU, 8GB of RAM, a 256GB SSD, two Thunderbolt ports, Gigabit Ethernet, and two USB 3 ports. This is bundled with a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Mouse. It is available in Blue, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Silver, and Yellow colour options.

As for availability, the new 24-inch iMac with M3 is already up for pre-order on the Apple website. It will go on sale via the website, Apple Store, and Apple authorised resellers starting November 7.

24-inch iMac M3 specifications, features

While the new 24-inch iMac with M3 chip looks similar to the older model, it does offer some performance improvements. The M3 chip with 8-core CPU and up to 10-core GPU with support for up to 24GB unified RAM is claimed to be twice as faster as the M1 chip, and is based on the Apple iPhone 15 Pro's A17 Pro chip.

Apple's new M3 chip is manufactured using a 3nm process, which also makes it more efficient than the M1 chip that powered its predecessor. In the graphics department, the chip offers hardware-accelerating mesh shading with support for ray tracing on the iMac. There's also a 16-core Neural Engine that enables faster machine learning.

The all-in-one 24-inch iMac with M3 comes with a 24-inch Retina Display that offers 4.5K resolution and 500 nits of peak brightness. It now comes with Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, up to four USB Type-C ports, two Thunderbolt ports, and Gigabit Ethernet support. There's also a 1080p FaceTime camera and a six-speaker setup that offers support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos. It runs the new macOS Sonoma out-of-the-box.

The Retro variant has an indigo blue and silver shade, a different UX design reinterpretation of 2000s pixel graphics and animation on the Flex Window. It comes bundled with three Flipsuit cards featuring logos from different eras of Samsung's history, a Flipsuit case and a collector card engraved with a unique serial number.

In July, the vanilla Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 was launched in India priced at Rs. 99,999 for the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage model. The 8GB RAM + 512GB storage variant is priced at Rs. 1,09,999. It debuted in Cream, Graphite, Lavender, and Mint shades.

Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip 5 runs on Android 13 with One UI 5.1.1 on top and features Armor Aluminum frames. It sports a 6.7-inch full-HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X Infinity Flex inner display with 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. It has a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED folder-shaped cover display with a refresh rate of 60Hz. The handset runs on a custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 Mobile Platform for Galaxy SoC under the hood, with 8GB of RAM.

For optics, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 sports a dual rear camera unit, comprising a 12-megapixel ultra-wide primary sensor, along with a 12-megapixel wide-angle camera with support for OIS. A10-megapixel selfie camera manages selfies and video calls. It has an IPX8 rating for water resistance. Samsung has equipped the Galaxy Z Flip 5 with a 3,700mAh battery that supports 25W fast charging.

India vs England World Cup Match 2023 Today: How to Watch Live Stream, Live Telecast Details

India vs England World Cup 2023 match is scheduled to take place on Sunday, October 29, at Ekana Sports City stadium, Lucknow. The host team has been faring well in the tournament so far, with 5 wins in all the matches it has played. With 10 points, India sits second in the points table for the World Cup 2023. It is only behind South Africa, who moved to first position after a massive win against Pakistan. On the other hand, the defending champions will find it hard even to make it to the semi-finals at this stage. England sits at the last position in the points table currently, with only one win in its account so far.

India is suffering a loss as Hardik Pandya is recovering from his injury. While he was expected to join the team for Lucknow's game, his ligament tear may take longer to heal, and we might miss him for the next two games. Suryakumar Yadav replaced Pandya in the previous match against New Zealand. However, he failed to woo fans with his performance. On the other hand, Mohammad Shami took 5 wickets in the same match and became the Player of the Match. For the next clash, BCCI may take a chance with R Ashwin to fill Pandya's position. Another awaiting feat is Virat Kohli's 49th century, making him the cricketer with most ODI centuries.

England, the champions of World Cup 2019, has been finding it hard to score a win. In the five matches it has played so far, England has managed to claim a victory only once. While captain Jos Buttler has repeatedly defended his team, there have been questions from all ends. Their performance has made it difficult to qualify for the semi-finals. It will be interesting to see if England manages to reclaim their lost glory against India.

The match will begin at 2 pm IST, and the toss will take place 30 minutes before the scheduled time, at 1:30 pm IST.

India vs England World Cup 2023 squad

India: Rohit Sharma (c), Hardik Pandya (vc), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Shami, Ishan Kishan, Surya Kumar Yadav

England: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Gus Atkinson, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Brydon Carse, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, David Willey, Mark Wood, Chris Woakes

The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 tournament began on October 5. The first match took place between the finalists of the last season — New Zealand and England. With 17 matches left before teams move to the semi-finals zone, a lot is at stake that can turn the tables anytime. This year, 10 teams have participated in the World Cup 2023 tournament. These are Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, Netherlands, South Africa, and Sri Lanka. The World Cup 2023 final will take place on November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Weekly poll: how old is your phone?

Fairphone is promising 8 years (possibly up to 10) of support for its new Fairphone 5. Google brought Android longevity into the mainstream with the new Pixel 8 series, which will be supported for 7 years, this includes both software updates and availability for spare parts. But this raises the question – is anyone actually using their phone for that long? While it’s tough to predict whether there will be any Pixel 8 users left in 2030, we can focus on the here and now. So let’s change the question to this – how old is your current phone? We know that some of you have phones that you...

Weekly poll results: the OnePlus Open is great, but buyers balk at the price

Economies of scale mean that once a product becomes popular, it costs less too. But that causes a Catch-22 – it’s difficult for an expensive product to become popular. Right now that is the problem facing foldables, especially the horizontal variety. Last week’s poll shows that the OnePlus Open is a very promising phone. It might even be the best in class that the markets outside of China have seen. And yet... well, the pie chart speaks for itself, 40% of voters have interest in the Open, but find it too pricey. To be fair, it costs less than Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold5 (unless you get in...

ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: India vs New Zealand Sets Live Streaming World Record With 4.3 Crore Viewers

India recorded a convincing four-wicket win over New Zealand — their first over the Black Caps in an ICC tournament since 2003 — to climb to the top of ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 table on Sunday. Handing New Zealand their first defeat of the tournament, India have now won five games on the trot at the World Cup, looking strong favourites to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011. Rohit Sharma and co. chased down a target of 274 with 12 balls to spare, courtesy an emphatic 95 from Virat Kohli. In the process, the match also set a new world record for live streaming, with Disney+ Hotstar recording 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers.

Disney+ Hotstar owns the digital streaming rights for the ongoing World Cup and, according to the streamer, 4.3 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Sunday to watch India versus New Zealand. This marks a new world record for streaming, breaking the previous record set by the India versus Pakistan match on October 14.

Hosts India and 2019 World Cup finalists New Zealand were the only two undefeated sides at the tournament heading into the match, with the Black Caps sitting top of the table on the basis of a higher net run rate. While New Zealand fielded an unchanged side from their win over Afghanistan, India made two changes. Suryakumar Yadav and Mohammed Shami came in for the injured Hardik Pandya and Shardul Thakur.

India won the toss and put New Zealand to bat, who set up a total of 273 with the help of Daryl Mitchell's 130 off 127 balls, with Shami taking five wickets in the process. While Kohli narrowly missed out on another century, his 95 helped India reach 274 with two overs remaining.

The India versus Pakistan match on October 14 also set a global streaming record when over 3.5 crore live concurrent viewers tuned in on Disney+ Hotstar to see the much-awaited clash. The streamer holds the streaming rights for the World Cup in India and is also offering new viewing features for the tournament in association with the ICC. Its new MaxView feature allows cricket fans to watch matches in portrait mode on their smartphones, with ICC providing a dedicated vertical feed.

Flashback: a look back at Samsung's rugged flagships in the Galaxy S Active series

Samsung’s rugged XCover line dates back to 2010 and started off with feature phones, but even when it switched to smartphones it was never a premium line. For tough + premium there was the Galaxy S Active line. The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was introduced in 2013. This was the first S-phone with an IP rating for dust and water resistance – IP67, meaning “dust tight” and “immersion up to 1m/3.3ft” for half an hour. This was a year before the Galaxy S5, which had both an IP67 rating and a removable back cover (though as you may remember the S6 dropped the IP rating before the S7 reintroduced...

Some Google Pixel 8 phones reportedly have an unlocked bootloader out of the box

In what is a rather odd situation, Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro buyers have been spotted on Reddit complaining that their shiny new devices arrived with an unlocked bootloader. Instagram New Features Announced Include Multiple Lists in Stories, Audio and Selfie Video Notes and More

Instagram recently celebrated its anniversary on October 6. As the company continues to grow, the Meta-owned app has introduced new features to appeal to Generation Z. Instagram will begin testing the new features soon and may launch them within the coming months. The new creative features will include reminders for birthdays, audio notes, video notes through selfies and multiple lists for Stories. According to the company, these features will help the newer generation to express their creativity on the app and share content more easily.

In a Meta event in Delhi, the company unveiled new Instagram features specifically targeted towards GenZ.

Four New Features on Instagram for GenZ users

The first feature is Birthday's. Instagram already lets users celebrate the birthdays of their loved ones. With the new feature, the app will also allow users to help their friends remember their birthdays. They can do this by adding new pictures or effects like confetti to their profile picture.

Instagram is also making it easy for users to add notes now. It could either be an audio note or a selfie video note. Notes have gained popularity on the app, enabling users to share updates with each other in a quick way. It is available in the DM section at the top of the messages. The new Audio Notes feature will let users make a voice recording as a note, while Selfie Video Notes will make it easy to record a short video as a note for 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Multiple Lists in Stories is touted by the app as the most awaited feature. Till now, users were able to create a list of their Close Friends with whom they wanted to select Stories. However, now users can create multiple lists in Stories, such as one for their university friends, another for their office buddies, and so on. Making multiple lists will allow users to segregate the selection of people who can view any particular story.

ISRO Successfully Launches Gaganyaan Test Flight Abort Mission

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman S Somanath on Saturday announced the success of the 'TV-D1' (Test Vehicle Development Flight 1) in the Gaganyaan Mission. The test vehicle was launched on the second attempt after it had faced an engine ignition problem at 8:45am IST. ISRO briefly aborted the launch of the first uncrewed test flight (TV-D1 Flight Test). Later, it said that the errors have been identified and corrected and the second launch was scheduled for 10:00am IST today.

Addressing the media, ISRO Chairman S Somanath said, "I am very happy to announce the successful accomplishment of the TV-D1 mission. The purpose of this mission was to demonstrate the crew escape system for the Gaganyaan program through a test vehicle demonstration in which the vehicle went up to a Mach number, which is slightly above the speed of sound, and initiated an abort condition for the crew escape system to function."

"The crew escape system took the crew module away from the vehicle, and subsequent operations, including the touch-down at sea, have been very well accomplished. and we have confirmation of the data for all of this," he added.

ISRO chief S Somanath congratulated scientists after the successful touchdown of the crew escape module.

On the occasion, Mission Director S Sivakumar said, "This is like a never before attempt. It is like a bouquet of three experiments put together. We have now seen the characteristics of all three systems with what we wanted to test through this experiment or this mission. The test vehicle, the crew escape system, the crew module everything, we have perfectly demonstrated in the first attempt. All the systems performed well."

"We had been at penance for the last 3 to 4 years and the D-day was today. We are very happy to be able to do it on the very first attempt," he added.

This Flight test vehicle Abort mission was conducted to demonstrate the performance of the Crew escape system as part of the Gaganyaan mission.

The mission objectives of the TV-D1 launch were Flight demonstration and evaluation of Test Vehicle subsystems; flight demonstration and evaluation of Crew Escape System including various separation systems; crew module characteristics; and deceleration system demonstration at higher altitudes and its recovery.

The Test Vehicle is a single-stage liquid rocket developed for this abort mission. The payloads consist of the Crew Module (CM) and Crew Escape Systems (CES) with their fast-acting solid motors, along with CM fairing (CMF) and Interface Adapters. This flight simulated the abort condition during the ascent trajectory corresponding to a Mach number of 1.2 encountered in the Gaganyaan mission.

This mission represents a significant milestone in India's effort to demonstrate that it is possible to send humans into space.

The Gaganyaan project envisages a demonstration of human spaceflight capability by launching a crew of three members into an orbit of 400km for a 3-day mission and bringing them safely back to earth by landing in Indian waters.

This programme will make India the fourth nation to launch a manned spaceflight mission after the US, Russia, and China. Building on the success of the Indian space initiatives, including the recent Chandrayan-3 and Aditya L1 missions, Prime Minister Narendra Modi directed that India should now aim for new and ambitious goals, including setting up 'Bharatiya Antariksha Station' (Indian Space Station) by 2035 and sending the first Indian to the Moon by 2040.

One of the pretty transparent ways in which Apple has, in recent years, tried to increase its average revenue per iPhone unit sold, is needlessly differentiating features between the 'vanilla' (read: cheaper) iPhones and the more expensive Pros. It got to the point where the vanilla models are now powered by different, older chipsets in order to save Apple some money and protect its profit margin. That, however, may sort of change next year. Both models are tipped to feature 120Hz refresh rate displays protected by Huawei's Kunlun glass. They are said to be powered by the company's Kirin chips and could feature a 60-megapixel selfie shooter.

Tipster Moorish Sky (translated from Chinese) posted key specifications of Huawei Nova 12 and Huawei Nova 12 Pro on Weibo. As per the leak, both models will feature displays with a 120Hz refresh rate and Huawei's Kunlun glass for protection from drops. The Pro model is said to run on the Kirin 9000S platform. This is the same mobile chip that powers the Huawei Mate 60. The vanilla Huawei Nova 12 could feature the yet-to-be-announced Kirin 830 SoC under the hood.

For optics, both Huawei Nova 12 and Huawei Nova 12 Pro are said to get a triple rear camera unit. The camera setup of the regular model might comprise a 50-megapixel primary camera, 12-megapixel sensor, and 8-megapixel shooter. The Huawei Nova 12 Pro's camera unit is tipped to include two 50-megapixel sensors and a 12-megapixel sensor.

Both phones are tipped to sport a 60-megapixel front camera. Further, both smartphones might offer satellite messaging functionality that allows users to send and receive messages through satellite connectivity.

The Huawei Nova 12 is said to come with a 4,800mAh battery with 88W fast charging, while the Pro model could feature a 4,900mAh battery with 100W fast charging.

The Honor Play 8T appears to be a rebranded version of the Honor Play 50 Plus. The latter was announced earlier this month in China with a price tag of CNY 1,399 (roughly Rs. 15,000). As of now, Honor has not shared any information on the specifications of the phone or its release date, including via its official Weibo channel.

The Honor Play 8T could debut as a successor to the Honor Play 7T. It was introduced in March at CNY 1,099 (roughly Rs. 13,100) for the base variant with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

The Honor Play 7T has a 6.74-inch TFT LCD display with 90Hz refresh rate. It runs on an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 6020 SoC paired with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of inbuilt storage. It has a dual rear camera unit, comprising a 50-megapixel primary rear camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies and video calls, the handset features a 5-megapixel front camera. It is backed by a 6,000mAh battery with support for 22.5W wired charging.

OnePlus Open First Look Video Shows Hinge Design, Demonstrates Durability

OnePlus Open is set to be unveiled at an event in Mumbai on October 19. This is the first foldable phone from the Shenzhen-based company. Multiple leaks and reports surrounding the smartphone have surfaced in the past few weeks. Specifications, design renders, and price range of the handset have been tipped. The upcoming book-style foldable is speculated to compete with Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Google's Pixel Fold. In a new video shared by a YouTuber, we get a tour of the OnePlus headquarters and see glimpses of the OnePlus Open model before its official reveal.

YouTuber Michael Fisher a.k.a. MrMobile was invited by OnePlus for a tour of their factory and research facility in China, according to one of his latest videos. Fisher posted a compilation of his tour and most importantly, shared glimpses and information about the upcoming OnePlus Open book-style foldable smartphone. Among the several things discussed in the video, the primary focus was on two things - durability and the crease.

Infamously, one of the biggest drawbacks of recent foldable smartphones is the crease that appears on the display when the screen is unfolded. In a recent leak, it was hinted that the OnePlus Open may sport a barely visible crease. In Fisher's video, we see a shallower crease than what we have seen in other flagship foldables. In fact, it is similar to the crease found in the Oppo Find N series models. Fisher details how the number of parts in the hinge has been brought down to 69 from 100 and it now weighs only 13 grams since the company claims to have used lighter alloys.

Among the durability tests that the OnePlus Open has gone through, Fisher takes us through the drop test, the twist and bend tests as well as the water resistance test. Although the exact IP certification of the upcoming foldable was not revealed, the test chamber that the phone was seen in could simulate conditions for the phones that are equivalent to what an IPX2 or IPX4 handset could deal with, so we could speculate that the OnePlus Open will arrive with one of those ratings.

The video did not reveal the design or placement of the rear camera unit, however, several leaked renders and promotional images of the OnePlus Open have suggested that the phone will come with a top centre-aligned circular back camera island. The phone has also been tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC paired with 12GB of RAM. The phone is expected to feature a 7.82-inch 120Hz OLED primary display with a resolution of 2,268 x 2,440 pixels and a 6.31-inch 120Hz OLED outer panel with a resolution of 1,116 x 2,484 pixels. The rumoured triple rear camera unit of the phone is said to include a 48-megapixel primary sensor, another 48-megapixel secondary sensor, and a 64-megapixel sensor with a telephoto lens. The front camera is tipped to be equipped with a 32-megapixel or 20-megapixel sensor. The handset could be backed by a 4,805mAh battery with 100W wired fast charging support as per leaks.

Samsung launched the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 alongside the Galaxy Tab S9 series and Galaxy Watch 6 series at its first Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea. T-Mobile annihilates Verizon and AT&T in new speed report

If you're looking at the three US carriers and wondering which of them will provide you with the fastest internet on your smartphone, the answer is very clear: T-Mobile. The magenta carrier's dominance over Verizon and AT&T in speed tests is actually quite ridiculous, according to Ookla's new trimestrial report that covers the July to September period (the third quarter of the year). Ookla, if you don't know, is the maker of the SpeedTest.net website and eponymous mobile app, and its findings come from the tests that were run through its service - which is the most popular speed testing...

Xiaomi is getting ready to unveil the 14 and 14 Pro flagships for the Chinese market on October 27, if the latest rumors on the matter are to be believed. As we are now closer than ever to that date, it wouldn't be surprising at all to have a leak of the vanilla model's full spec sheet. And that's exactly what we're bringing you today. However, do keep in mind that fake spec sheet leaks have unfortunately been a thing on Weibo for the past few years, and that's where this originates too. And it doesn't come from one of the reliable leaksters over there, like Digital Chat Station or Ice...
