iPhone 15 Pro Series Overheating Issue Acknowledged by Apple, Fix Is Coming

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max powered by A17 Bionic SoC were unveiled during Apple's 'Wonderlust' event last month, and they hit stores across the globe on September 22. Since then, numerous reports have been of overheating iPhone 15 Pro models. Apple has reportedly acknowledged the issue in a fresh update and is working on a fix with an upcoming software update. Apple claims that recent updates to some third-party apps, like Instagram and Uber on iOS 17, have overloaded the system, causing the latest iPhone models to get warmer than normal.

In the last few weeks, several iPhone 15 Pro users on Reddit, Twitter, and Apple community forums complained that some new models are overheating. Multiple affected users posted that they couldn't properly hold their phones as the temperature rose and hit more than 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Several users complained that the issue is related to the new A17 Pro Bionic processor and titanium chassis. Apple has acknowledged the overheating problems with its iPhone 15 Pro models. Responding to this case, Apple reportedly said in a press statement that it is aware of the issue and promised a fix through an upcoming software update.

Apple states that recent updates to third-party apps, including Instagram, Uber, and Asphalt 9: Legends in iOS 17, overload the system, causing the iPhone to get warmer than usual. It is said to be working with developers to rectify the issue. Instagram has already rolled out version 302 to fix the problem.

A report by MacRumors quotes the statement — "We have identified a few conditions which can cause iPhone to run warmer than expected. The device may feel warmer during the first few days after setting up or restoring the device because of increased background activity. We have also found a bug in iOS 17 that impacts some users and will be addressed in a software update. Another issue involves some recent updates to third-party apps that are causing them to overload the system. We're working with these app developers on fixes that are in the process of rolling out."

Apple reportedly said the iPhone 15 Pro's titanium frame and aluminium substructure aren't contributing to the overheating issue.

The iPhone 15 Pro starts at Rs. 1,39,900 for the base 128GB storage model in India, while the iPhone 15 Pro Max begins at Rs. 1,59,900. They are currently up for sale in the country via Apple's online store, Apple BKC, Saket, e-commerce websites, and official retail outlets.

iOS 17: Here's How to Use NameDrop Feature on Your iPhone

Apple released iOS 17 for all users across the globe earlier this month alongside the new iPhone 15 series. The latest iteration of the iPhone operating system has many interesting features and upgrades including a new NameDrop feature. This functionality works like AirDrop and allows you to share contact details by placing your iPhone close to someone else's iPhone. This can be performed by bringing an iPhone and Apple Watch together as well. However, Apple will bring this feature to the wearable in an update later this year. 

How to use the NameDrop feature on iOS 17

iPhone users have to switch on AirDrop to use the NameDrop feature. This can be done by heading to Settings>Select General > AirDrop. Make sure your AirDrop is open to Everyone and both iPhone models are running on iOS 17. Check out how you can swap contacts with another iPhone.

1. Hold the top of your iPhone near the top of someone else's device.
2. A glow will emerge from the top of both devices to indicate a successful pairing and NameDrop will appear on both screens.
3. Continue holding and NameDrop will appear on both screens.
4. You can choose to Share or Receive Only or do both at once.
5. To cancel, move the two devices away from each other before NameDrop completes.

NameDrop only works for sending new contact information, not updating an existing contact. Users can turn off NameDrop by heading into Settings>Select General > AirDrop and toggle the Bringing Devices Together option. Apple already confirmed that NameDrop will be available on Apple Watch in an update later this year.

iOS 17

 

Apple's iOS 17 software has been available to eligible iPhone models since last week. Besides the NameDrop functionality, the latest operating system brings a lot of improvements and new features to iPhone models including StandBy Mode and a Live Voicemail feature that allows users to read a real-time transcription at the same time the caller is speaking. In iOS 17, the Health app offers new mental health features and Reminders show grocery lists. It also includes an Apple Journal app and Offline Maps allow you to share AirTags and other Find My-enabled accessories with other users.

Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale 2023: Google Pixel 7a Discounted Price Revealed

Flipkart Big Billion Days Sale begins October 7 for plus members, promising discounts on a host of products across categories. The sale, which will continue till October 15, will also bring deals on smartphones from top brands like Apple, Samsung, Vivo, Motorola and more. The e-commerce site has begun revealing some discounted prices for phones going on sale. Flipkart has announced that Google Pixel 7a will also be discounted during the Big Billion Days sale.

The Google Pixel 7a (review) launched alongside the Pixel Fold earlier this year on May 11. Just as Google is preparing to launch the Pixel 8 series, Flipkart has listed the Pixel 7a for discount during its upcoming Big Billion Days Sale. The Google Pixel 7a will be available for a discounted price of Rs. 31,499, down from its retail price of Rs. 43,999, for the single 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant. Do note that this sale price includes additional exchange and bank offers that Flipkart will offer during the sale.

The Pixel 7a features a 6.1-inch full-HD+ OLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display. The handset is powered by Google's Tensor G2 SoC, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Google smartphone packs a 4,385mAh battery and supports wireless charging.

In the camera department, the Pixel 7a features a dual rear camera setup, which includes a 64-megapixel primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and a 13-megapixel ultra wide-angle secondary camera. The front-facing camera is also a 13-megapixel shooter. The phone is available in Charcoal, Snow, Coral and Sea colour options.

In addition to the Pixel 7a, Flipkart is also offering a discount on the Pixel 7 during the sale. The phone, launched for Rs. 59,999, will be available for Rs. 36,499 (including additional offers) during the Big Billion Days Sale. We can also expect some offers on last year's flagship-grade Pixel 7 Pro.

The e-commerce site has also listed the upcoming Pixel 8 series on a dedicated product page. Pre-orders for Google's latest Pixel phones begin October 4. Ahead of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro's launch, some key specifications for handsets have leaked. The phones are tipped to run on Tensor G3 SoC. The Pixel 8 will likely feature a 6.2-inch display, while the pro model could get a 6.7-inch panel.

iPhone 12 price in India is set to see a massive drop during the upcoming Flipkart Big Billion Days sale and Amazon Great Indian Festival sale, while Apple's more recent iPhone 13 and iPhone 14 price models will also be available at discounted prices on both e-commerce websites. The festival season is one of the best times of the year to purchase smartphones from Apple, and you can also further lower the price of these handsets by availing of exchange discounts.

During Flipkart's annual Big Billion Days sale, you can purchase the iPhone 12 at Rs. 38,999. The handset was launched in India in October 2020 at Rs. 79,900. You can lower the price of the handset by Rs. 3,000 by availing of eligible debit and credit card offers, along with an additional Rs. 3,000 discount on exchanging an eligible smartphone. As a result, the effective price of the handset drops to Rs. 32,999.

The iPhone 13 will be available via Amazon during the upcoming sale at a discounted price — the handset debuted in the country in 2021 at the same price as its predecessor. Still, the base model is equipped with 128GB of inbuilt storage. The e-commerce website has not revealed the price of the handset during the sale or the four-figure SBI bank card discount and exchange offers but has hinted that the price of the handset will be lower than Rs. 40,000 with a "Rs. 3X, XX9" teaser on the sale landing page.

Similarly, you can purchase the iPhone 13 for Rs. 52,499 via Amazon while lowering the price of the handset by up to Rs. 37,500 when you exchange an eligible smartphone. You can also avail of SBI bank card offers to buy the phone at a cheaper price during the upcoming Great Indian Festival sale on Amazon.

If you're looking to purchase a more recent iPhone model at a discounted price, the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus will also be sold at lower prices during the upcoming sale. Like its rival, Flipkart has not revealed the price of these handsets but has hinted that their prices will drop below Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 60,000 during the sale. The iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus were launched in India in September 2022, priced at Rs. 79,900 and 89,900, respectively.
