Refreshed Maruti Suzuki Ignis launched at Rs 4.79 lakh

Maruti Suzuki has announced pricing for the updated Ignis hatchback. The refreshed Ignis will be continued to be sold via Maruti’s Nexa premium dealerships and is now priced from Rs 4.79 lakh. Unlike the recently updated Baleno, the refreshed Ignis does not get any styling tweaks and the model continues to look the same as the one that was launched back in 2017.

The refreshed Ignis now gets reverse parking sensors, a speed alert system and a passenger side seatbelt reminder as standard. Additionally, the Zeta and Alpha variants now come with roof rails as standard. Interestingly, Maruti Suzuki continues to offer the Smartplay infotainment system from the outgoing model, which means the Ignis does not get the SmartPlay Studio that was recently introduced on the Baleno facelift and the all-new Wagon R.

The Maruti Suzuki Ignis remains mechanically unchanged. It’s powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine good for 83hp and 113Nm of torque. Gearbox options include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

At Rs 4.79 lakh, the updated Ignis is priced slightly higher than the outgoing model, which was priced from Rs 4.67 lakh onwards. The top-spec Alpha MT now costs Rs 6.67 lakh as opposed to Rs 6.51 lakh earlier.

Key rivals to the Ignis include the Ford Freestyle and the Mahindra KUV100 NXT.
