New Ford Puma revealed

Ford has revealed an all-new crossover, the Puma ahead of its debut at the upcoming Frankfurt motor show this September. The new Ford Puma will sit above the EcoSport in the brand’s global line-up. It gets a unique styling that’s more cross-hatch than SUV and shares a few design cues with the latest-gen Fiesta hatchback sold abroad.

Powering the Puma is a 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid setup. This engine is available in two states of tune – 123hp and 152hp.  Both versions get a 6-speed manual and a 7-speed DCT gearbox. A 1.5-litre diesel with a 6-speed manual gearbox will also be offered on the Puma crossover.

The Puma comes with a list of important safety features, including pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, emergency brake assist, a tyre pressure monitoring system, electronic stability control, semi-autonomous parking assist, and emergency steering assist. It also gets adaptive cruise control.

On the inside, the Ford Puma is fitted with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can be customised as per the driver's preferences, and a central infotainment system with Ford SYNC 3 offering Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 10-speaker B&O audio system is also on offer. Other features of the Puma include a hands-free tailgate, adaptive rear parcel shelf, and a hidden storage cubby where you would usually find a spare wheel.

Ford may not bring the Puma to India but the company has already begun work on an all-new SUV that is being co-developed with Mahindra for the Indian market.
