Maruti Suzuki reports zero sales in April 2020

With the entire country in lockdown mode - effectively rendering all manufacturing plants and dealerships shuttered - the first big impact on the automobile industry has been announced.

Passenger vehicle market leader Maruti Suzuki has announced that it had “zero sales in the domestic market - including sales to OEM (which means no Balenos went to Toyota) - in April 2020. This was because, in compliance with the Government orders, all production facilities were closed.”

The company adds that "following resumption of port operations, the first export shipment of 632 units was undertaken from the Mundra port, ensuring that all guidelines for safety were followed.”
