Maserati Ghibli Trofeo, Quattroporte Trofeo previewed

The carmaker has previewed the new Maserati Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo in an image shared online.  These will be the new range-topping, performance versions of the sedans.

Highlights

  • Both sedans will get interior and exterior visual updates.
  • The Trofeo versions are expected to come with a 3.8-litre, Ferrari-derived V8 engine.
  • Maserati has made no announcement of an India launch.

When will the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo be revealed?

The models are set to be revealed on August 10, 2020. They are expected to take after the Levante Trofeo SUV, which was introduced in international markets as a rival to the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Turbo in 2018.

What will be new on the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo?

While little is known about the models at this stage, we can expect the new models to feature aggressive styling akin to the Levante Trofeo. That car differentiates itself from the standard model with its large wheels and bonnet vents, as well as an ‘F1-inspired’ rear diffuser, so expect the Ghibli Trofeo and Quattroporte Trofeo to adopt similar cues.

What engines will they use?

Under the hood, the Levante Trofeo has the same Ferrari-derived 3.8-litre V8 as the Levante GTS. Both the Ghibli and Quattroporte are expected to adopt the same engine, where it will produce 582hp and 730Nm of torque.

What will the interiors be like?

There are likely to be some revisions made to the interior as well. For example, the Levante Trofeo has high-backed sports seats with ‘Trofeo’ logos stitched into their headrests, alongside carbon-fibre inserts. We can expect similar changes on the Trofeo sedans.

Will the Maserati Ghibli and Quattroporte Trofeo come to India?

The carmaker has made no official announcement regarding its plans to bring either the Ghibli Trofeo or Quattroporte Trofeo to our market. However, Maserati is looking to expand its footprint in India, starting with the introduction of the Ghibli Hybrid. The Maserati MC20 super sportscar is also expected to come to India in the future.
