BS6-compliant KTM 200 Duke in the works

KTM India has confirmed that the current 200 Duke is being upgraded to comply with BS6 norms, and that the model will be on sale post the April 2020 deadline. Company officials confirmed this at the launch of KTM India’s premium offering, the 790 Duke, which was launched at Rs 8.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India)

The KTM 200 Duke has been on sale in India since 2012 and has only received timely graphic changes over the years, along with the recent addition of dual-channel ABS. The model has been selling well, according to KTM India, and was the entry level model until the 125 Duke went on sale a few months ago. Both, the 125 Duke and 200 Duke, share the same styling and we could see KTM tweak the latter’s design to differentiate it to the baby Duke.

The KTM 200 Duke is known for its eager performance and is the motorcycle that introduced the KTM brand to India. The motorcycle is powered by a high-revving, 199.5cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that’s mated to a 6-speed transmission. It produces 24.5hp at 10,000rpm and 19.2Nm of torque at 8,000rpm.

Priced at Rs 1.62 lakh (ex-showroom), the KTM 200 Duke goes up against the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V.
