2020 Suzuki GSX-R1000R gets MotoGP-inspired livery

Last month, Suzuki unveiled a new livery for the GSX-RR race bike that should have been competing in the 2020 MotoGP World Championship. The white and blue scheme is inspired by the 60th anniversary of Suzuki’s first motorcycling world title and has now been showcased on its flagship sportbike, the GSX-R1000R.

The GSX-R1000R, in its MotoGP Ecstar-inspired livery, is on ‘display’ in Suzuki’s virtual motorcycle show, which also showcased two new colour schemes for the Katana. It’s very likely that we’ll see Suzuki make it available alongside the existing colour schemes and not as a replacement for any of them.

For 2020, the bike remains unchanged under the skin, with its 999cc inline-four cylinder engine producing peak output figures of 197hp at 13,200rpm and 117Nm of torque at 10,800rpm.

This new generation of the GSX-R1000 was launched in India back in 2017, but it has since been taken off the website. Internationally, the bike is yet to be updated to Euro-5/BS6 norms and we could see Suzuki reintroduce the bike here only once that happens.
